Dolmuş Hotel
2012, Istanbul – The concept of ‘Dolmuş Hotel’ is a response to Istanbul’s very own culture and the vibrant cultural and city tourism.
It is entirely inspired by the distinctive dolmus (typical share taxis in Istanbul) and its image. For that the dolmuş is reduced to its constituent parts in order to reinterpret them meeting the needs of the new hotel building. These components are converted from rear-view mirrors to sconce indoor lighting, steering wheels and wheel rims to tables and hubcaps to ceiling lighting. Special functional features like wheeled and hidden beds add to the quality of the project. By applying this concept consistently an exceptional identity is created for this hotel situated in the Tarlabasi/Omer Hayyam area.
